Come join SeaKeepers and Miami Waterkeeper in celebration of the 42nd annual Baynanza Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day! Baynanza is a celebration of Biscayne Bay that began in the 1980s in an effort to protect our bay and its natural resources. Now more than ever, this ecological gem needs our protection from pollution in order to keep the water clean for all the marine creatures that inhabit it and Miami-Dade residents that rely on it. We are proud to co-host with Miami Waterkeeper at the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus site, with boat access provided to Sandspur Island. *Please note, if you are registering here it is only for the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus site*

Volunteer information: Volunteers should meet at FIU Biscayne Bay Campus located at 3000 NE 151st Street, North Miami, FL 33181 at 8:30am. Please look for the blue SeaKeepers and Miami Waterkeeper tents to check-in! Parking is available, but in order to save space (and the planet), carpooling is encouraged.

Please bring:

– Reusable water bottle full of water (refills will be provided)

– Closed-toe shoes and clothes you are comfortable getting dirty/sweaty. Long pants are recommended.

– Hat and sunglasses

– Sunscreen and/or bug spray

– Your mobile device if you wish to log your finds using Marine Debris Tracker

We will provide:

– Buckets

– Trash bags

– Gloves and pickers

– Water refills

– Community service hours

Community service hours: All volunteers are eligible to earn 3 community service hours for participating in the cleanup. Download the app Marine Debris Tracker, and click here for a quick tutorial on how to use the app, and get ready to utilize the Marine Debris Tracker App to help create a bigger picture of marine debris and plastic pollution through collecting open data, generating scientific findings, informing policy, and inspiring upstream design.
